Teaching Philosophy

I believe students learn best in spaces that are student-led and grounded in curiosity and self-expression. My role is to help writing feel like exploration rather than performance. Each session follows the student’s rhythm and needs, whether that means working through structure or finding language for an idea that’s still forming.

My background in both art and English education shapes how I teach. I see writing as a creative act, an iterative process of discovery. Together, we work toward clarity and confidence, learning how ideas take shape through process and reflection.

Ultimately, I hope students leave with a deeper sense of trust in their voice so writing feels less about getting it “right,” and more about thinking, creating, and communicating with intention.

  • A first working session for new students. We’ll look at a short piece of writing together or create one during the session, talk through goals, and decide what to focus on next. This helps us build a clear plan for future tutoring and get a feel for how we work together.

  • How do I pay?
Payment can be sent by Venmo or Zelle within 24 hours of booking. If you ever need flexibility with timing or invoicing, just let me know. I’m happy to accommodate when I can.

What if I need to reschedule?
Life happens. You can use the private reschedule link I provide to choose a new time, usually within the same or following week. With enough notice, there’s no additional charge to move a session.

    What’s your cancellation policy?
If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, the session is charged in full. This helps protect everyone’s time, but if there’s an emergency or illness, please reach out so we can find a solution that feels fair.

    Do you assign homework?
Homework is never a requirement. Some students enjoy continuing their writing between sessions, while others need rest or other forms of learning. We decide together what feels supportive, not stressful.

Do you work with students online or in person?
All sessions are currently held online via Zoom. If in-person meetings become available, I’ll offer that option to current families first.
